First Financial bank team meets with community leaders

Highland County area leaders turned out Wednesday afternoon to welcome members of the bank team of First Financial, the institution that acquired Liberty Savings Bank.
The "meet and greet" event was held at Vickie's on West Main Street in Hillsboro, and area business leaders, Highland County Chamber of Commerce members, and elected officials turned out for the reception.
Among the speakers were Claude Davis, President and CEO of First Financial.
"It's exciting to be a part of the Hillsboro community, and Highland County" Davis told the group. "We think it is important to get to know the community leaders and to be a good corporate citizen."
Davis said the bank wants to be involved in the community and has three main goals whenever they expand into new areas: economic development, education and neighborhood development.
"We like to focus on financial literacy," Davis said. "I think one of the reasons for the economic crisis was that people were not as educated (on financial matters) as they should be."
Chief banking officer Doug Lefferson said that, "This is the kind of community that we know, that we understand, and that we live in."
In addition to local leaders, also in attendance were Ohio 86th District Congressman Cliff Rosenberger, Ohio 37th District Congressman JIm Butler, and former member of the U.S. House of Representatives for Ohio's 7th District David Hobson.
