Highland County Sheriff Donnie Barrera reports that on July 5, 2016, officers of the Highland County Sheriff's Office, the U.S. 23 Major Crimes Task Force, Fairfield-Hocking Major Crimes Unit and the Hillsboro Police Department conducted a covert investigation after having received information that a local doctor was selling prescriptions for narcotics.

As a result of the investigation, a search warrant was served at the doctor's office in Hillsboro, where cash, drugs, a firearm, and other items were recovered.

Sheriff Barrera states that Dr. John Hodge, 33, of Jackson, was arrested and charged with aggravated trafficking in drugs, a second degree felony.

An arraignment is scheduled to be held on July 6 at the Hillsboro Municipal Court for Hodge, according to Sheriff Barrera.

Additional charges are pending as the investigation continues.
