Congressman Taylor applauds $202 million awarded to Ohio through President Trump’s Rural Health Transformation Program

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Dave Taylor (OH-02) today applauded the allocation of $202 million from the federal Rural Health Transformation Program (RHTP) to the state of Ohio. This funding will support Ohio’s multi-year plan to strengthen rural hospitals and clinics, expand access to primary and behavioral health services, modernize health care infrastructure, and improve health outcomes for families in rural areas across the state.

“For too long, rural Buckeye communities have faced unique health challenges in terms of outcomes and access, and it’s time to level the playing field,” said Congressman Taylor. “President Trump’s Rural Health Transformation Program will dramatically improve health outcomes for thousands of Ohioans, and I’m grateful for this Administration’s leadership in this area. I will continue advocating on behalf of my constituents and applaud this program as a historic step in the right direction.”

Background:

The Rural Health Transformation Program was established by President Trump under the Working Families Tax Cut Act to transform health care outcomes in rural regions across the U.S. Administered by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), the RHTP represents the largest targeted investment in rural health infrastructure and services in American history.

The RHTP allocates a total of $50 billion over five fiscal years (FY2026-FY2030), with $10 billion being made available per year.

Congressman Taylor led a letter to Governor Mike DeWine with Representatives Jim Jordan (OH-04), Michael Rulli (OH-06), and Warren Davidson (OH-08) applauding the newly-created Rural Health Transformation Program on October 6, 2025. This letter urged Governor DeWine to direct funds toward initiatives that support independent rural hospitals, rural Federally Qualified Health Centers, and creative solutions to address health care gaps across rural Ohio.
