Commissioner Horst to be honored for 40 years of service on Dec. 30

In recognition of a 40-year career in public service, there will be a "roast and toast" event for Highland County Commissioner Tom Horst from 2-4 p.m. Dec. 30 in the Highland County Common Pleas Courtroom.

After serving two terms as county commissioner following general election victories in 2008 and 2012, Horst decided not to run for a third term in 2016.

During his four decades in public service, Horst has served as a Lynchburg police officer, Hillsboro police officer, three terms as Highland County sheriff and also worked for the Bureau of Criminal Identification and Investigation and the Department of Homeland Security.

The public is invited to the Dec 30 event to wish Commissioner Horst all the best and thank him for his service to Highland County.
