Wilmington, Ohio - CMH Regional Health System Home Care Services, which serves patients in six area counties, continues to rank among the elite. The 2009 HomeCare Elite™, a compilation by OutCome Concept Systems of the top-performing home health agencies in the United States, listed CMH in the top 6 percent of the 8,800 home health agencies in the United States.
This annual review identifies the top 25 percent of agencies and further highlights the top 100 and top 500 agencies overall. The rankings are based by an analysis of performance measures in quality, improvement and financial performance, according to CMH Home Care Manager Bonnie Davis. CMH Home Care Services has a proven track record ranking in the top 25% for four years in a row.
OutCome Concept Systems is an industry acknowledged expert in data analysis. This inaugural compilation lists the most successful home care providers in the United States.
“Being in the top 6 percent in the United States further validates our value to our patients, as well as our referring partners at Clinton Memorial Hospital, area skilled nursing facilities, rehab units, infusion companies, and physicians from all over southwest Ohio,” Davis says.
In the 1980’s while CEO for the Visiting Nurses Association of Boston, CMH President and Chief Executive Officer, Andy Riddell participated in an initial national committee to identify benchmarks that would hopefully “right” the general misunderstanding by the public of the effectiveness of home health services. Riddell explains that the group was organized to better educate the public about the often misunderstood role of home care services.
“Because the services are not delivered in a hospital, benchmarks and measurements with regards to positive outcomes didn’t exist or were not standardized.” says Riddell.
Davis already knew that CMH Home Care Services ranked better than state and national averages in 38 performance indicators, including pain management, medication management, and patients who remain home after services are complete.
"Home Care has shown to be a cost effective alternative to inpatient care or a nursing home stay.” says Dr. Tommy Tigar, medical director for CMH Home Care Services since 2004. “CMH Home Care Services is an asset to this community and they continue to provide quality outcomes to their patients."
"As our medical director, Dr. Tigar has been very important to us and the services we provide.” says Davis. “We appreciate the importance he places on providing quality service and care to our patients.”
In addition to Dr. Tigar, CMH Home Care Services utilizes a staff of registered nurse case managers, physical therapists, occupational therapists, speech therapists, home health aides and social workers to provide care which promotes patient independence while maximizing wellness.
CMH Home Care Services, based at CMH Nelson Avenue, 761 S. Nelson Ave., Wilmington, is Medicare-certified and JCAHO-accredited.
