WILMINGTON - Five retiring members of the CMH Regional Health System Foundation Board of Trustees were recognized and a new member welcomed during the board’s final quarterly meeting in December at the Clinton Memorial Hospital Conference Center.
At the conclusion of the meeting, board chairman Chris Chaney acknowledged the volunteer fundraising efforts of outgoing board members Andy Riddell, Dr. Foster (Jack) Boyd, Sharon Hiles and Charlyn Kruszka. The fifth retiring board member, Phil Snow, was not in attendance. Riddell, the newly retired president and chief executive
officer of CMH, is automatically replaced by Dr. Michael Choo, interim president and chief executive officer of CMH, whose board assignment was formally approved during the business portion of the meeting.

Dr. Boyd and Snow were original members of the board that was
created in 2005, for the first time distinctly separate from the 10-member
county appointed CMH Board of Trustees. Dr. Boyd, also an original member of
the CMH Medical Staff for whom the CMH cancer center is named, was also
voted emeritus status by board members at the September quarterly session.

Sharon Hiles had been a member of the board since 2007.
Kruszka is the outgoing president of the CMH Foundation Auxiliary and will be replaced on the board in 2010 by new president Joann Chamberlin. Other current volunteer CMH Foundation board members include Brian Bourgraf, Dr. Gary Blumberg, Don Gephart, Jama Hayes, Scott Holmer, Jim Mahon, Dr. Willard Lane, Andrew McCoy and Jason Walt.

During the business meeting, the board heard Community Development director Dana Dunn and Foundation research analyst Zoe LaRocca give a fundraising update and update on other community development activities. Through November, the CMH Foundation had raised more than $330,000.  Kruszka reported that CMH Foundation Auxiliary special events contributed more than $53,000 towards that total.

Board members also heard financial updates from Ron Bachman, interim vice president and chief financial officer of CMH; Holmer, chair of the CMH Foundation Finance/Investments Committee; as well as State of CMH reports from Riddell and Dr. Choo.
