Hillsboro City Council passed a resolution for the design and construction for an Environmental Infrastructure Improvements Project at the Sept. 14 council meeting held at the Highland County Justice Center.
The project will consist of modifications the the existing wastewater treatment plant.
Also at the meeting, council, along with other city officials, discussed the process of accepting bids for construction at Liberty Park.
Council said at the meeting everyone should work hand-in-hand to bring this project together.
The council discussed having a special meeting for reviewing of the bids.
In other news at the monthly meeting:
    • an ordinance was adopted for the approval of the city fire code in its final reading.
    • There was a “no” vote on the resolution to set hours of operation at Liberty Park.
Mayor Dick Zink had proposed a resolution that would limit the park hours from approximately 5 a.m.-8:30 p.m., after reports of overnight incidents of vandalism at the North High Street park.
    • Council passed a resolution concerning inspection services from William L. Sibrel for the South Lift Station Sanitary Sewer Replacement Project.
    • Mayor Zink spoke about the upcoming 2010 census to member of council.
Zink said the form isn’t “loaded,” like in past years, but wants all residents to realize in filling out the census, it helps with road constructions and other improvements to the city.
Zink told council everyone should do their best to inform the citizens.
A public kickoff meeting will be held on Tuesday, Sept. 29 at the county administration building in the basement meeting room.
     • Council also approved the route of the 2009 Hillsboro Holiday Parade, which will take place on Nov. 28 at 4 p.m.
There was one slight change to the route as the route will switch one street over in a turn near Rite Aid on North High Street.
    • In the finance committee report, it was stated there will be a finance meeting on Tuesday, Sept. 22 at 5 p.m.
Agenda items include: additional fire department personnel, furniture for a meeting room in fire department and a review of the city’s overall financial position.
The finance committee is chaired by council member Lee Koogler.[[In-content Ad]]
