Wendell B. Hunt, local outreach business partner with Strategic Services and Administration for Bluegrass Pipeline, presented a $1,500 check to Highland County Commissioner Tom Horst Thursday, April 10 to assist with the county's upgrades to the 911 communications center.

Hunt said it was one of several donations made in association with the Bluegrass Pipeline project under way in Highland County.

Hunt also presented a $2,500 check to Highland County Community Action Organization, Inc.; a $2,500 check to Samaritan Outreach Services; and a $2,500 check to Highland County Family and Children First Council.

Hunt said the Pipeline project originally was to have an in-service date in early 2016; however, it is running approximately six months behind that targeted schedule.

According to Hunt, the Pipeline project should be under construction in mid- to late 2015 and in service by mid- to late 2016.

The 24-inch line will carry natural gas liquids through Highland County. The liquids include ethane, propane, butane and natural gasoline. The points of origin for the pipeline are in northwestern Pennsylvania (Mercer County) and in West Virginia (Marshall County). The destination is the Gulf Coast in Texas.

"On behalf of the Bluegrass Pipeline, we are proud to present these checks as good citizens and good neighbors in your community," Hunt told Horst.
