Air Transport Services Group, Inc. has announced the election of Cynthia Treadwell-McConnell as president of Air Transport International, a cargo airline subsidiary of ATSG.

Mrs. McConnell is currently vice president and chief financial officer of ATI. On March 31, she will succeed James L. Hobson, Jr., who is retiring after 12 years as president and CEO.

McConnell, 44, is an experienced financial professional who joined ATI in June 2000 following four years at Continental Airlines, where she was Managing Director, Finance. Earlier, she served in multiple audit roles for Ernst & Young and as a corporate auditor at PepsiCo in Dallas. She holds a bachelor's degree in accounting and an MBA from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock.

Joe Hete, President and Chief Executive Officer of ATSG, said, "Cindi McConnell has made significant contributions improving our financial and management operations at ATI, using techniques and expertise she developed at Continental and elsewhere throughout her career. I'm sure she will continue the performance improvements that Jim Hobson has initiated at ATI, which have contributed to significantly improved results for ATSG shareholders."

Hobson joined ATI as president & CEO in May 1998, shortly after retiring from a 32-year career in the U.S. Air Force as a major general. He was commander of the Air Force Special Operations Command. He received a bachelor's degree from Memphis State University (now the University of Memphis), and master's degrees from the University of Southern California and the U.S. Navy War College.

"Under Jim Hobson's leadership, ATI has dramatically expanded and improved its air cargo capabilities around the globe," Hete added. "His military career included a wide range of highly complex air missions involving advanced technical skills and outstanding performance. The customers of ATI received the same extra-mile dedication and commitment to their needs as Jim displayed in the military. We thank him for his service and wish him well in retirement."
