Adena presents check for municipal pool
CHILLICOTHE, OH (May 10, 2011) – A check for $20,000 was presented by Adena Health System President and Chief Executive Officer Mark Shuter to Chillicothe officials Monday afternoon.
The money will be used to help open the municipal pool this year, without the need for additional taxpayer dollars.
“We’re pleased to present the city with this donation, which demonstrates our commitment to the people of Chillicothe,” Shuter said.
He also praised the efforts of Dr. Jennifer Allen, an Adena physician, and city council member Joe Sharp in taking the initiative to approach local businesses, including Adena, to raise money for the Donald M. Smith Memorial Pool in Yoctangee Park.
“Since the founding of the health system more than a century ago, Adena has provided assistance in many different ways to the communities it serves. We’re proud of that history and will continue to help,” Adena’s top executive said.
Hours after the check presentation, Shuter spoke with elected officials and business leaders during a luncheon at the Adena Mansion, organized by the health system.
There, Adena’s CEO outlined the health system’s strategy for growth. “Healthcare will undergo major changes,” he said, in the very near future.
Adena is preparing for those changes as it attracts more physician specialists, introduces new technology and places greater emphasis on primary care and the management of chronic disease.
