10 indicted in Highland County grand jury's March session
A Highland County grand jury handed down 10 indictments in their Tuesday, March 3 session.
Among those charged was Jan Michael Chaney, 43, of Chillicothe, who was indicted on one count each of having weapons while under disability, a third-degree felony, and aggravated possession of methamphetamine, a fifth-degree felony, along with a forfeiture specification.
It is alleged that on or about Feb. 3, Chaney “did knowingly acquire, have, carry or use a firearm” while “not having been relieved from disability” due to a previous domestic violence case. On the same date, Chaney is accused of “knowingly obtaining, possessing or using” meth. The weapon Chaney is alleged to have “had in his possession” Feb. 3 is subject to forfeiture.
In other indictments:
• James W. Marcum, 43, of Midland was charged with one count of aggravated possession of methamphetamine, a third-degree felony. It is alleged that on or about July 27, Marcum “knowingly obtained, possessed or used” meth in an amount equal to or exceeding bulk amount but less than five times bulk amount.
• James S. Pagett Jr., 30, of Lynchburg and Haylee Marie Kelly, 32, of Chillicothe were charged jointly with one count of prohibitions concerning companion animals, a fifth-degree felony.
It is alleged that on or about Feb. 7-8, Pagett and Kelly “did knowingly cause serious physical harm … to a companion animal.”
• In addition, the following individuals were each charged with one count of aggravated possession of methamphetamine, a fifth-degree felony:
— Jonathan E. Jenkins, 29, of Hillsboro;
— Cameron D. McConehea, 29, of Hillsboro;
— Ella McGuin, 57, of Piketon;
— Randy A. Mullins Jr., 54, of Columbus;
— Emberly W. Rickman, 33, of Hillsboro; and
— Jacob K. Spear, 27, of Batavia.
