Sheriff's office commended for quick action
To the editor:
I want to express my sincere appreciation for the hard work and professionalism shown once again by the Highland County Sheriff’s
Office.
At about 10 p.m. a couple of nights ago, I found someone trespassing on my farm. As we have had a lot of property stolen over the past six months, I was on high alert. My son-in-law and I went to investigate and immediately contacted the sheriff’s office. We were able to keep the criminal from leaving until law enforcement arrived. It took them only minutes to arrive at our farm, despite the fact that we live about eight miles out of Hillsboro.
Additionally, an off-duty lieutenant arrived on the scene to assist. He is a neighbor, and graciously offered his services, despite being off-duty. Two detectives also arrived to assist in the investigation. At a time when “overtime” is a faint memory, I was humbled to see everyone arrive and work the scene with a professionalism rivaling any other agency in the county.
I am both thankful and proud to have Sheriff Ron Ward and his deputies protecting my family and my property.
Sincerely,
David R. Fairley
