To the editor:
I don't know Clyde Evans well. I've only met him a few times. What I've heard from people in southern Ohio is that Clyde Evans is a nice guy, but that David Daniels is a nice guy who would make a better, more conservative state senator. As someone who has known David Daniels well for over 20 years, I can tell you that David would make a great state senator.
Recently, I received a campaign mailer from Clyde Evans, and I no longer can believe that he is a "nice guy." There is nothing nice or honorable about someone who would send a blatant lie in their campaign literature. The Evans mail piece makes the claim that David is putting our children in harm's way - that David voted to allow sexual predators to live dangerously close to our children. That claim is wild, reckless, dishonest, and downright nasty.
For the record, David Daniels was a co-sponsored of the SORN legislation that cracked down on sexual predators and it also prohibited registered sex offenders from living close to schools. David actively supported this bill and voted for its passage. Clyde Evans knows that, and instead chose to lie about David's record.
In closing, as the Mayor of Greenfield and as a Highland County Commissioner, David Daniels ALWAYS stood up for law enforcement. As a state representative, David has represented southern Ohio with honor and dignity and has led on important public safety issues. There is no doubt that David Daniels will always fight to protect the rights of the most vulnerable in our society.
I know a lot of elected officials, and I can tell you there are none that work as hard for their constituents as David Daniels. We do not need another dishonest, mudslinging po litician like Clyde Evans, who will say or do anything to win a political campaign. I hope you will join me for voting David Daniels for State Senate on May 4.
Sincerely,
Sheriff Ron Ward, Highland County
