To the editor:
Mr. Lewis, I find your reply to my objection to your fictitious Nancy Pelosi quote reprehensible. I'm pretty sure you know that quotation marks around a statement indicate that said statement is an exact quote and that you are aware that preceding the quote with the word essentially doesn't change that.
I'm also pretty sure that it was a calculated maneuver to get another lie circulating as has become SOP for the far right extremists. You must have known that most people, especially ones dedicated to bringing down the elected government by sedition, will latch onto your lie and spread it.
Your contention that Democrats are somehow responsible for the invasion of Iraq because a slim majority of Democratic senators voted to allow President Bush to use military force is astounding. The vote was made when the country was united behind a President who had not yet demonstrated that he was untrustworthy. Prior to the election of Barak Obama putting politics aside and uniting behind the president in a time of crisis was the American way.
God bless America and the Democratically elected President who is doing his best to keep his campaign promises and to repair the damage done by 8 years of George Bush.
Sincerely,
Charles Leach
