An open letter to Hillsboro citizens about the mayoral primary

To the editor:

Folks, it’s true that who you send to the mayor’s office this time could make, or break, Hillsboro.

If you sit by and don’t vote, it’s virtually guaranteed that you will be letting Hillsboro’s same ol’ people elect one of the same ol’ “in-crowd” schmucks. The Good Ol’ Boys/Girls Club will continue to make the decisions and the money … and the rest of Hillsboro will continue to rot and mildew and decay and suffer the creep of blight at the speed of light. Don’t let the local political party “big shots” do that. You can stop them by doing just two simple things – go vote in the upcoming mayoral primary on May 3, and in the fall, go vote for the mayor of your choice in the general election.

Here is the one fact that will decide the primary election in May. The more Hillsboro folks who go vote – the better Hillsboro’s chances are to get rid of the same ol' leadership that has nearly wrecked your town.

Some of you are not big on voting. Will you please go vote in the mayoral primary just to help the city for your neighbors’ sake?

Some of you are already planning to vote. Will you please talk to at least two other people into going with you to vote in the primary?

Hillsboro, Folks: OK, your votes don’t count for much in Washington or Columbus; but they count a lot in Hillsboro… they count for EVERYTHING here. They count for the future of your city.

Hillsboro – is YOUR Hometown. Hillsboro does not have to be a mess and an embarrassment and a laughingstock. But you have to stop letting the local “in crowd” elect their favorite people. You have to stop letting a handful of greedy, selfish people do the dancing while you just get to pay the fiddler.

Yes, I live out in Jackson Township, so why do I care about Hillsboro? It’s because if you send another Hillsboro "In-Crowder” to the mayor’s office, the relationship between the city and county residents and the quality of life in Hillsboro and Highland County is doomed to get even worse.

Please go vote in the mayoral primary May 3. The more voters, the better our chances.

Sincerely,
Jim Moore
