Counter appreciates privilege of serving

To the editor:

I want to take this opportunity to tell you and the citizens of Highland County how I have thoroughly enjoyed the privilege of representing them in the Highland County Recorder’s Office.

There is no job more important than keeping the real estate (land) records of Highland County.

I am a Republican candidate in the upcoming March primary and look forward to continuing public service for several more years. I am a lifelong resident of Highland County, and a graduate of McClain High School. I served in the U.S. Army in Vietnam with the 9th Infantry Division, “D” Troop 3/5 Air Cavalry and am a recipient of The Distinguish Flying Cross, Air Metals for Valor and the Vietnamese Cross of Gallantry.

I’ve been married to Lynn for 38 years and we have two children, Delinda and Scott, both graduates of McClain High School.

I was involved in the contract trucking business for 17 years and was involved as an owner in three office furniture providers for 20 years, serving as director of operations, sales and service, design project management and property management.

My public service started in Greenfield in 1976 on City Council. I have served as mayor and several terms on council to complete almost 30 years. I’ve served on the Highland County Republican Central Committee and have served as its chairman for several years. I’m a member of the Highland County Republican Club, the Highland County Republican Executive Committee and the Republican Century Club.

There is nothing more satisfying than being a public servant with the ability to help others and the opportunity to build relationships with the other public officials.

I look forward to continue being your Highland County Recorder.

Sincerely,
Richard Counter
Highland County Recorder
