LC Lady Mustangs battle in 6 volleyball games thus far in 2023

The Lynchburg-Clay Lady Mustangs have played in six volleyball games thus far in 2023, where they have a record of 0-6 overall and 0-3 in the Southern Hills Athletic Conference.
In the opening tournament (Saturday, Aug. 19) of the ’23 season, LCHS lost to Hillsboro and Whiteoak in the best-of-three games played at HHS, both matches by 2-0 scores.
Against Hillsboro (25-16, 25-9), the Lady Mustangs totaled four kills, with those coming from Mattie Magee, Avery Shope, Kylie O’Connor and Autumn Griffith.
LCHS also had one block against Hillsboro coming from Addy Carraher. Carraher also led LCHS with four assists.
Joslyn Rockey was the leader for LCHS with 12 digs.
Against WHS (25-18, 25-21) in a non-conference best-of-three game in the season-opening tournament, LCHS lost to Whiteoak.
Leading LC in kills against the Lady ’Cats were Magee and O’Connor with three kills each.
Rockey led the Lady Mustangs with three aces, and the leader in blocks was Magee with one.
In the digs category, Joslyn Rockey totaled 10 digs, followed by Allison Rockey and Carraher with eight each. Finishing with four digs were Ava Doughman and Shope. Halle Greene totaled two digs, and with one dig each were Magee, O’Connor and Griffith.
Carraher led LCHS with seven assists. The Lady Mustangs also had 10 receptions by Joslyn Rockey and Allison Rockey with seven. Morgan Baker totaled seven receptions.
On Tuesday, Aug. 22, LCHS lost in four sets by scores of 25-19, 25-14 and 25-20 in sets two through four. LCHS won set one at 25-22.
In the SHAC loss, Magee led LCHS with eight kills, followed by Joslyn Rockey with five. Also in the kills category for LCHS were Carraher (two), Greene (three), Shope (one) and O’Connor (three).
Leading LCHS with six aces was Carraher, while Baker had two aces. Finishing with one ace each were Allison Rockey, Greene and O’Connor.
Carraher also collected one block.
Allison Rockey led the Lady Mustangs with 10 digs, followed by Joslyn Rockey with nine, and Ava McLaughlin with seven. Shope totaled four digs, and with three digs each were Carraher and Doughman, while Greene and O’Connor each had one dig.
The assists leader was McLaughlin with nine, and with six was Carraher. Totaling two assists each were Allison Rockey and Greene, and with one assist was Joslyn Rockey.
Leading in receiving were Allison Rockey with 29 and Joslyn Rockey with 12.
On Wednesday, Aug. 23, LCHS lost at home to Blanchester in three straight sets by scores of 25-18, 25-17 and 25-22.
In the non-conference home match, LCHS totaled 22 kills and were led by Magee with eight, followed by Joslyn Rockey with five. Also with kills were Carraher (two), Shope (one), Greene (three) and O’Connor (three).
LCHS also had 11 aces in the loss, with Carraher having six, Baker with two, and with one each were Allison Rockey, Greene and O’Connor.
Leading the Lady Mustangs with one block was Carraher.
Of the 38 digs by Lynchburg-Clay, Allison Rockey totaled 10 digs, Joslyn Rockey totaled nine and McLaughlin had seven. The rest of the digs were Carraher (three), Doughman (three), Shope (four), Greene (one) and O’Connor (one).
LCHS also had 22 assists, with McLaughlin having nine, and Carraher finishing with six assists. The remainder of the assists for LCHS were: Allison Rockey (two), Joslyn Rockey (one), Magee (two) and Greene (two).
Leading in receiving was Allison Rockey with 29 and Joslyn Rockey with 12.
The Lady Mustangs were back on the court in SHAC action on Thursday, Aug. 24 by a 3-0 score with set scores of 25-15, 25-11 and 25-14.
In the SHAC loss at North Adams, LCHS totaled 11 kills with the leader being Carraher with five. Having one kill each were McLaughlin, Doughman, Joslyn Rockey, Magee, Greene and O’Connor.
The Lady Mustangs also had three total aces in the loss, with those all by Joslyn Rockey.
LCHS had three blocks as well against North Adams, with those blocks by Carraher, Shope and Greene.
Four LCHS players had double-figure digs, and they were McLaughlin (11), Allison Rockey (13), Carraher (11) and Joslyn Rockey (14). Also credited with digs were: Doughman (one), Magee (one), Shope (one), Greene (one) and O’Connor (three).
The Lady Mustangs also had 11 assists with McLaughlin leading the way with eight. Having one assist each were Carraher, Joslyn Rockey and Kylie O’Connor.
Leading in receiving was Allison Rockey with 23, while Doughman had 10.
Tuesday, Aug. 23 saw LCHS fall in three straight sets at home against the Bethel-Tate Lady Tigers in a non-conference match.
In the loss, LCHS totaled 15 kills with Carraher and Magee each totaling four, while Greene and O’Connor each had three kills. Having one kill was Shope.
In serving, the Lady Mustangs had eight total aces with two each by Carraher and Joslyn Rockey, while Allison Rockey, Doughman, Magee and O’Connor each finished with one kill.
The Lady Mustangs also collected 60 digs in the loss with Joslyn Rockey having 17, followed by Allison Rockey with nine and McLaughlin with eight. Having seven digs was Carraher, Doughman finished with six, and Greene totaled five digs. Magee and Shope each totaled three digs, and with one dig each were O’Connor and Griffith.
The assists leader was Carraher, who finished the match with five assists, followed by McLaughin with four. With one assist each were Magee and O’Connor.
The receiving leader was Allison Rockey with 18 receptions, and Doughman had 11.
