Lady Lions earn SHAC, county rivalry volleyball win over LC; defeat Portsmouth Clay, Fayetteville

Thursday, Sept. 28 saw the Fairfield Lady Lions go on the road and defeat a Highland County counterpart, the Lynchburg-Clay Lady Mustangs, in three consecutive sets.
FHS won by scores of 25-17, 25-15 and 25-20.
For Fairfield, Jobey Hattan led in kills with 12, and teammate Remi Moon totaled 10 kills as FHS had a team total of 38 kills.
Kelsey Clark led the Lady Lions with 21 assists, and Hattan was the leader in aces with eight.
Also collecting aces were McKinley Cox with six, and with one each were Mackenzie Anderson, Jadi Howland, Moon and Emily Taylor.
Of the 33 digs collected by Fairfield, Moon led with seven, followed by Anderson and Hattan with six and Clark and Howland with five each. Haley Crabtree had two digs, and with one each were Cox and Taylor.
Taylor was Fairfield’s blocks leader was Taylor with two.
For Lynchburg-Clay, their kills leaders were Halle Greene and Kylie O’Connor with three each.
The LC assist leader was Addy Carraher with eight, and the leader in aces for Lynchburg-Clay was Allison Rockey with two.
LCHS totaled 41 digs with Avery Shope having 10, followed by Joslyn Rockey with nine and Allison Rockey with eight.
Carraher led LCHS with two blocks.
On Saturday, Sept. 30, the Fairfield Lady Lions defeated Portsmouth-Clay in three straight sets.
In the road win, FHS had scores of 25-12, 25-19 and 25-22.
Of the 34 team kills by FHS, the leader was Mackenzie Anderson with 12, while Jobey Hattan had nine as those were the top two leaders of the team.
The assists leader was Kelsey Clark with 28, as the team totaled 33.
The serves leader was also Clark with five, while Anderson and Hattan each had two. Finishing with one ace each were Alyssa Bales, McKinley Cox, Haley Crabtree and Remi Moon.
Moon was the team leader in digs with 13 for Fairfield, followed by Clark with nine. Hattan had seven digs, Crabtree finished with six and Anderson totaled five.
Tuesday (Oct. 3) saw the Lady Lions defeat Fayetteville on the road in three sets.
Fairfield won by scores of 25-9, 25-14 and 25-16.
Fairfield totaled 37 kills, 36 assists, 10 aces, 65 digs and two blocks as a team.
Hattan was the kills leader with 13, while Moon totaled 10. Clark led FHS with 31 assists, and the aces leader was Clark with three.
Four FHS players had double-figure digs totals with Hattan having 22, Clark with 11, and having 10 each were Anderson and Moon.
Clark and Taylor each finished with one block.
Fairfield is in first place in the SHAC Division II standings with a 10-1 conference record, and they have an overall record of 12-6.
Next for FHS is an away game at Ripley on Thursday, Oct. 5 in SHAC action.
