KAMP (Kids and Motivated People) Dovetail held a ribbon cutting with the Highland County Chamber of Commerce, community members and supporters on Tuesday, June 20, to celebrate the completed construction of their new horse barn.

KAMP Dovetail is a volunteer-run summer camp sponsored by Supplementary Assistance to the Handicapped (SATH), a non-profit organization, and run by Linda Allen, Executive Director.

KAMP Dovetail has served Highland and surrounding counties for over 40 years and is located at Rocky Fork State Park in Hillsboro. The camp serves over 200 children ranging from ages 3 to 18. Campers enjoy horseback riding, fishing, tent camping, and carnival games throughout the week.

The construction of the new barn allows horse riding to be more accessible for campers and volunteers and allows them to enjoy horseback riding, rain or shine.

In attendance during the ribbon cutting were many supporters of the project, including: Tony Staggs, SATH Board President; Cory Cover, Rocky Fork State Park Manager; Mindy Bankey, ODNR Assistant Director; Glenn Cobb, Chief of the Division of Parks & Watercraft; Melissa Clark, Southwest District Manager; Jon Dobney, Greene County Parks & Trails Director; Anthony Spaetzel, Congressman Brad Wenstrup’s Field Representative; Terry Britton, Dave Daniels and Brad Roades, Highland County Commissioners; Robert Wilson from Robert Wilson Construction; and Barry Stratton, S&S Electric.
