McClain High School will have a representative in the OHSAA State Wrestling Tournament as senior Caleb Cooper battled his way through six matches in the Division II District Tournament for a fourth place finish.

Gaining a first place finish in the 125-pound class at the Division II District Wrestling Tournament, Hillsboro's Andrew Goolsby is headed to the state wrestling meet as he won four matches in two days at Goshen High School.

As area coaches prepared their high school teams for the 1971-72 basketball season, Sam Snyder was returning for his third season at McClain, Gary Shaffer was back at Washington, Buddy Bell was the new coach at Wilmington, John Lawhorn was still at Circleville, and Jan Stauffer was at Miami Trace.
