SSU Board of Trustees asks Morris to lead Shawnee State University through 2015
The Shawnee State University Board of Trustees unanimously voted during its meeting Friday, March 11, for a new four-year contract with President Rita Rice Morris to keep her as the university’s leader through June 30, 2015.
LC kindergarten registration to be held April 13
Kindergarten registration for students living in the Lynchburg-Clay School District will be held on Wednesday, April 13 in the Lynchburg-Clay Elementary building.
Turner: VA obstructs efforts to investigate Dayton facility
Third District Rep. Mike Turner has received word that the Department of Veterans Affairs has refused to make former Dayton VA Medical Center Guy Richardson available to meet with Turner and the chairman of the House Veterans Affairs Committee, Jeff Miller, as had been planned for Monday, March 14.
Dr. Janet Ebert guest of DAR
Dr. Janet Ebert was the guest speaker at the March 5 meeting of the Waw-wil-a-way Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution.
Premier Showmen 4-H Club elects officers
On Feb. 27, the Premier Showmen 4-H Club held a meeting. During this meeting, the club nominated and voted for officers.
American Red Cross responding to Japan earthquake and Pacific tsunami
The American Red Cross is offering assistance to the Japanese Red Cross following Friday’s magnitude 9.1 earthquake and resulting tsunami that left towns and villages in Japan devastated. The earthquake triggered fires and caused severe damage to buildings, leaving five million households without electricity and 1 million without water. Early assessments indicate that more than 2,500 houses have collapsed completely, with 2,500 more damaged.
Ohio State overall No. 1 seed in NCAA tournament
Ohio State (32-2) beat Penn State, 71-60, Sunday and received the No. 1 overall seed in the 68-team NCAA Div.

Allen “Murph” Murphy, 76, of Hillsboro, died Friday, March 11, 2011 at the Laurels of Hillsboro.
Wildcats unable to handle Greyhounds; fall in district finals
The Whiteoak Wildcats were able to put together a rally, but not able to put together enough points to overcome a big run by the Manchester Greyhounds, Saturday in the Division IV SE District Finals. WHS came close at times to catching the Greyhounds but just couldn't get over the hump, falling to their Southern Hills League counterpart 63-48 at the Convocation Center, on the campus of Ohio University.
