    New Store Manager at Kibler Lumber
    Steve Conner has been named the new store manager for the Hillsboro location of Kibler Lumber.  Conner has been with the company since 2008 managing their Wilmington store.  His duties will expand to include oversight of both locations.

    Dealing with corn ear rot
    Discussions about the lousy weather that we have been experiencing and its effect on grain harvest is the current “hot topic” in the farming community these days. Stress levels are running high and you can understand why. Yield potential for this crop is very good and farmers can’t get the crop out of the field. A delay in grain harvest means a delay or, in some cases, an elimination of wheat planting.

    Boo-Fest, sponsored by WSRW AM 1590 and the Hillsboro Uptown Business Association, will be held 5 p.m. - 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 29, 2009 on the courthouse square and uptown business district. WSRW will be broadcasting throughout the afternoon. The county Beggars Night is 6pm - 8pm, so people can start their night with Boo-Fest.

    Reiber announces resignation as HCS superintendent
    Hillsboro City Schools Superintendent Art Reiber announced his resignation, effective July 31, 2010, at Wednesday night's school board meeting.
    "It is with mixed emotions that I submit my resignation," Reiber said. "I
    want to thank the Board of Education for the opportunity to be your
    superintendent these last five years. It is very difficult to say goodbye to
    a job that you truly enjoy. I will really miss representing Hillsboro City
    Schools."
