Hillsboro Lady Indians win 3rd straight game to start season

It has been three up and three down for the Hillsboro Lady Indians softball team. They earned their third straight victory to start the season Monday afternoon, winning by a 5-3 score over the Unioto Lady Shermans at Alice Cassner Field.
Hillsboro led early on with a run in the bottom of the first inning, and the score was tied at 2-2 once the third inning was completed with UHS scoring two runs and HHS adding a run to their total.
Again, both teams were tied 3-3 through four innings as each team scored a run, but in the bottom of the fifth inning Hillsboro added two runs to take a lead of 5-3.
The Lady Indians ended the game with seven hits and no errors, while Unioto had two hits and committed three errors.
Halle Reveal finished 3-for-3 at the plate with three runs, a double and a steal. Kinsey Gilliland finished 1-for-3 with a double, one run and one RBI. Camryn Spruell was 1-of-3 with a double. Eowyn Brown was also 1-of-3 with a run scored.
Isabelle Brunck went 1-for-3, while Chloe Page gained an RBI.
Spruell was the winning pitcher as she pitched seven innings, allowing three earned runs off two hits and seven walks. She collected 11 strikeouts in the win. Spruell finished with 144 pitches, 76 for strikes, as she faced 29 batters.
Next for Hillsboro (3-0) is an away non-conference game Tuesday, March 28 against Wheelersburg at 5 p.m.
