A Wilmington woman originally facing first- and second-degree felony charges in Highland County Common Pleas Court has been sentenced to community control after pleading guilty to a lowered charge.

Bridget Brooks, 28, was indicted in October on two counts — trafficking in hashish (liquid) in the vicinity of a school zone, a first-degree felony, and possession of hashish (liquid), a second-degree felony — according to court records. The indictment was initially made secret,

According to a bill of particulars, Brooks was charged as the result of a Highland County Task Force investigation in 2022, where she and alleged co-defendants were allegedly observed “loading things at a stash house” and then “returning” to another co-defendant’s house. A search warrant determined that there were bags of drugs being loaded.

In December, Brooks pleaded guilty to an amended count of possession of hashish (liquid), a third-degree felony. It was alleged that she “did knowingly obtain, possess or use” hashish in liquid form in an amount equal to or exceeding 50 grams but less than 200 grams, according to her plea agreement.

During a hearing Feb. 28, Highland County Common Pleas Court Judge Rocky Coss sentenced Brooks to three years of community control.
