Wenstrup joins House Intelligence Committee

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Beginning his second term in the House of Representatives, Second District Congressman Brad Wenstrup is expanding his legislative duties with a new spot on the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence. The committee is charged with the oversight of the United States Intelligence Community.

“With his background as an Iraq War veteran and Army Reserve officer, Representative Wenstrup has developed a highly informed perspective on terrorism, war-fighting, and other national security issues. I welcome him to the House Intelligence Committee and look forward to working closely with him,” said House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence Chairman, Devin Nunes.

Within the Intelligence committee, Wenstrup will serve on both the Emerging Threats and the Department of Defense Intelligence and Overhead Architecture Subcommittees.

“With recent ISIS-inspired attacks and high-profile cybercrimes, it is clear the new century of threats we face know no national borders. Our national security depends on critical threat assessments to disrupt and stop those seeking us harm, and the public demands thorough oversight of these programs,” Wenstrup remarked on the new role. “This committee’s work plays an integral role in keeping our nation and our people safe.”

Wenstrup also continues to serve on both the House Armed Services and the Veterans’ Affairs Committees, as well as a Lieutenant Colonel in the Army Reserve.
