U.S 50 crash investigated

Emergency personnel responded to this accident off U.S. 50 east near Carper Lane in Liberty Township Sunday, Nov. 9.

At least one person was transported from the scene via rescue helicopter. 

The driver of the car, which had a Laurelville Volunteer Fire Department license, was injured and taken to Grant Medical Center.

According to Paint Creek Joint EMS/Fire District Chief Bradley George, the driver was not on official business in Highland County, just "passing through."

The Laurelville Volunteer Fire Department's Facebook page asks readers to "Please keep Chief Roger 'Butch' Valentine and his immediate family and fire family in your prayers. He was involved in a bad accident and is in the hospital."

"It's always difficult when your called to care for one of your own," George said. "Our thoughts and prayers go out to the Laurelville Fire Department and their chief. Best wishes, prayers and all the luck in the world for a speedy recovery."

The accident remains under investigation by the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
