This year’s soil judging team represented the FFA chapter well as they qualified for state competition.
The individuals competing from the chapter included Kaitlin Meade, Joe Rudy, Cameron Middleton, Robbie Miller, Amber Chaney, Brittany Rhoads, Lizzie Mahan, and Emily Pence.
Overall, the team was young, but they proved that this was not a disadvantage to their success. This is only the second time in Hillsboro High School’s history that the team has qualified to compete at state.
There were also individuals who were toward the top ranking in their district including Robbie Miller, Kaitlin Meade, and Lizzie Mahan. Robbie Miller was ranked 12th in the district out of 129 participants. Lizzie Mahan was placed at 14th and Lizzie Mahan was 18th.
The team travels to Newark on Saturday to compete at state level. The competition will be held in the morning.
