Shaun Murphy brings blues-rock revue to Fling Barn May 11

The Fling Barn, south of Hillsboro, welcomes powerhouse singer and former Little Feat vocalist Shaun Murphy on Friday, May 11.
Murphy began her career as a teenager, singing the blues in the Detroit area. In 1971, she signed with Rare Earth Records as half of the duo Stoney & Meatloaf (yes, that Meatloaf).
In 1973, she began recording as a backup singer with Bob Seger's band and has appeared on most all of his studio recordings since. By 1978, she had also joined Seger's touring band.
In 1985, Shaun worked with Eric Clapton on his "Behind the Sun" album and tour. She has also recorded or toured with The Moody Blues, Phil Collins, Joe Walsh, Bruce Hornsby and Alice Cooper, among others.
In September 1993, Shaun joined Little Feat as vocalist and only female member. During her 15-year tenure, the group released four studio albums and several "live" efforts.
Shaun left Little Feat in 2009. Since leaving the group, she has formed her own band and released three albums and an "in concert" DVD. Shaun also rejoined Bob Seger's Silver Bullet Band for their latest tour.
The Shaun Murphy Band will be appearing at The Fling Barn, Friday, May 11. Slow & Low Barbecue begins serving at 7 p.m., with music at 7:30 p.m. Admission is $20 at the door.
The Fling Barn is located six miles south of Hillsboro off state Route 247, at 8205 West Berrysville Road. For more information, phone 937-393-8200 or go to www.flingbarn.com.
