Report: OSU president spends $7.7 million on travel, entertainment

A report by the Dayton Daily News (www.daytondailynews.com) says Ohio State University President E. Gordon Gee has spent almost $8 million on travel, entertainment and maintaining his 9,600-square-foot mansion.
The Dayton Daily News said the expenses are in addition to Gee's $8.6 in salary and benefits he's collected since becoming university president in October 2007.
As chief executive officer, he oversees Ohio State's six campuses, 65,000 students, and 48,000 faculty and staff.

According to his OSU website, Gee is among the most highly experienced and respected leaders in higher education, having been named in 2009 by Time magazine as one of the top 10 university presidents in the United States.
Prior to his service at Ohio State, Gee led Vanderbilt University (2001-07), Brown University (1998-2000), Ohio State University (1990-97), the University of Colorado (1985-90), and West Virginia University (1981-85).
