Priest sworn in as Hillsboro police captain

Ron Priest was sworn in as Hillsboro police captain on Wednesday morning in the Hillsboro city building.

Hillsboro Mayor Drew Hastings led Priest in reciting the oath of office.

As previously reported in The Highland County Press, testing for the positions of police sergeant and captain were administered on Oct. 24. The Civil Service Commission met Nov. 12 to discuss the results.

Priest has worked with the Hillsboro Police Department for 25 years, most recently serving as sergeant.

Hillsboro safety and service director Todd Wilkin said that Priest will assume the role of captain immediately, though the official effective date will be Jan. 1.
