Paint Valley Alcohol, Drug Addiction and Mental Health Services Board provides blankets to area homeless

The Paint Valley Alcohol, Drug Addiction and Mental Health Services Board is providing blankets to the homeless.

The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) requires counts of sheltered and unsheltered homeless persons annually.

These are called Point-in-Time Counts (PIT), and counties across Ohio will conduct the count from sunrise Jan. 22 to sunset Jan. 23.

The Paint Valley ADAMH Board will be providing stadium blankets to each of the five counties served in their area (Fayette, Highland, Pickaway, Pike, Ross).

The stadium blankets fold into a case complete with a handle and pockets for easy transport. The blankets will be distributed to the homeless by volunteers working to collect the data.

Juni Frey, executive director of the Paint Valley ADAMH board, said, “Unfortunately many of the homeless suffer from either a mental illness or a substance abuse problem but are unwilling to seek treatment. Providing a warm blanket is a small way to show someone does care.”

The Paint Valley ADAMH Board provides services in Ross, Fayette, Highland, Pickaway and Pike counties.
