OVI sobriety checkpoint planned in Brown County tomorrow

GEORGETOWN - The Georgetown Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol announced today that troopers will conduct an OVI checkpoint in Brown County tomorrow evening.

The OVI checkpoint, funded by federal grant funds, is planned to deter and intercept impaired drivers.

So far this year, there have been 6,294 OVI-related crashes on Ohio roadways. Of those crashes, 302 people were killed and 2,595 people were injured.

“Troopers have made 10,914 OVI arrests this year to combat these dangerous drivers. OVI checkpoints are designed to deter impaired driving and proactively remove these dangerous drivers from our roadways,” said Lieutenant Charles Jordan, Georgetown Post commander.

The exact location of the checkpoint will be announced tomorrow morning September 18.
