Supporters of agriculture, along with state and local officials, gathered today to celebrate Ohio's Century Farm program in Highland County.

This year is a milestone for the program, which now has at least one registered farm in each of Ohio's 88 counties.

As part of the event, the Daniels Family Farm, 11171 State Route 753 South, Greenfield, was inducted into the program.

The Daniels family grows crops on their 469-acre farm, which was established in 1842.

Ohio's Century Farm program, administered by the Ohio Department of Agriculture, was started in 1993 to honor those who have maintained their farming operations in the same family for at least 100 years. Ohio has approximately 930 Century Farms registered.

These families are an important part of Ohio's agrarian history, as well as the state¹s current and future economic success.

Ohio's food and agriculture industry adds $105 billion to the economy each year and provides one in seven with jobs.
