ODOT crews begin patrols for winter storm
In advance of a winter storm that is moving into the area, crews from the Ohio Department of Transportation - District 9 will begin patrolling and pre-treating routes during the overnight and early morning hours Wednesday.
Crews have been dispatched from the highway maintenance facilities in Adams, Brown, Highland, Jackson, Pike, Ross and Scioto counties, where the forecast calls for a mix of snow and freezing rain to strike before the early-morning rush hours.
Although ODOT crews will be treating and plowing according to the change in conditions, motorists may expect roadways to be lightly snow covered, and they are likely to be very slick and icy during the morning commute.
While crews will be working throughout the winter storm, motorists are reminded of the need for additional caution at all times. Along with allowing additional travel and stopping time, drivers should pay heed to other motorists on the roadways, as well as snowplows and their operators.
