Hillsboro, OH (June 9, 2010) —NCB, FSB (NCB) a federally chartered savings bank is actively engaging local youth throughout Southern Ohio in financial literacy lessons focusing on saving, budgeting, and making smart financial decisions. Studies have shown early lessons in financial responsibility and education make a lasting impression on children as they move into adulthood. NCB supports these efforts and recently hosted or participated in several financial literacy programs.
“Our new financial reality coupled with consumers learning to do more with less, makes educating our youth more important than ever,” explained Deb Jones, NCB Co-President Ohio Region.  “At NCB we are committed to helping our future customers become savvy savers.”
The team of Tammy Irvin, Rana Begley and Heather Cummings from NCB Ohio branch offices recently participated in the Teach Children to Save program where they shared saving tips and goal setting ideas with fifth graders at Hillsboro Elementary School. NCB employee Terese Hamilton led the same program for fifth graders at Blanchester Elementary School.
NCB participated in The Ohio State University’s Highland County Extension Office “Real Money, Real World” program at Hillsboro and Whiteoak Middle Schools.  This program teaches eighth graders to write checks, budget money, make financial decisions and to understand the many trials that can develop when living on your own.
NCB employees recently attended and presented at the Southern State Community College’s Career Fair for sixth and eighth graders from Bright Local Schools and Greenfield-McClain.  The career fair provided students with the opportunity to hear from various speakers about different jobs and opportunities, while also meeting many of local professionals.
