Jeff Bauer appointed dean of the College of Arts and Sciences at Shawnee State University

Jeff Bauer, Ph.D., who began his teaching career at Shawnee State University just out of graduate school in 1987, will take on the duties as dean of the College of Arts and Sciences, a position held by Tim Scheurer, Ph.D. who is retiring.
Bauer was the first full-time faculty member in geology at SSU, when the university began. In 1996, he was promoted to professor.
He has served in numerous leadership positions at SSU including chair of the Department of Natural Sciences, interim associate provost, interim dean of Research and Community Development, president of SEA, and chair of numerous search and other university committees.
“Last night when I came home, I began to realize what a big change this will be for me,” Bauer said.
“We have an excellent group of faculty and good programs in arts and sciences; however, we will have to respond to some important challenges in order to keep our college moving in the right direction.”
