Hillsboro police respond to uptown crash

The Hillsboro Police Department was called to the scene of a weekend automobile crash in the center of uptown Saturday evening.

According to the HPD, Richard Walker, 43, of Hillsboro was southbound on High Street, attempting to turn left onto East Main Street, and reportedly turned in front of northbound motorist Fred Messer, 78, of Hillsboro.

Walker was cited for failing to yield while turning left.

No injuries were reported.

In other police reports:

• At approximately 2 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 5, Michele Karaffa reported that her son, Christopher Karaffa, 28, had taken her car without permission after causing a disturbance at her residence. He was arrested for unauthorized use of a motor vehicle.

• On Friday, Jan. 4, Wal-Mart reported that a male subject was shoplifting from the Sauner Road store. Police arrested Jedediah Sibley, 29, of Hillsboro for theft.

• Mark Johnson was arrested for theft and contributing to the unruliness and delinquency of a child.
