On Tuesday, May 8 at approximately 8:10 p.m., the Hillsboro Police Department received a report of a two-car crash on East Main Street at the East Street intersection. Upon the officers' arrival, it was found that Tracy D. Vance, 40, of Hillsboro was eastbound on East Main in a 1998 Pontiac. Vance failed to yield at the intersection, making a left turn onto North East Street into the path of a 2006 Chrysler driven by Michael L. Captain, 35, of Hillsboro. Non-functional damage was sustained to both vehicles, and no injuries were reported. Vance was issued a citation for failure to yield.
At approximately 5:57 p.m., the Hillsboro Police Department received a report of theft from a loss prevention associate at Walmart. Upon the officers' arrival, it was found that a female identified as Lisa K. Wells, 45, of Lynchburg had entered the store, removed merchandise from a display and placed them in an empty bag. Wells then walked past all points of checkout and left the business without paying for the items totaling $27.94. Wells was charged with theft, a misdemeanor of the first degree.

On May 9, the Hillsboro Police Department investigated a four-car collision on North High Street at the intersection of Springlake Ave. Janice Kisamore of Hillsboro was stopped at a traffic light, and Gary Riley of Hillsboro was stopped behind her. Patricia Phillips of Hillsboro struck Mr. Riley from behind, causing him to hit the rear of Kisamore's vehicle. Phillips then backed up and backed into the vehicle of Christy Rhodes of Mowrystown, who was behind her. No injuries were sustained, and moderate damage was reported to the vehicles. Riley's vehicle was towed from the scene.
On Wednesday, May 9 at approximately 4:04 p.m., the Hillsboro Police Department received a report of verbal harassment in the 400 block of South East Street. On April 19, both parties involved were advised not to have any further contact due to verbal harassment or charges could be filed. Upon the officer's arrival, it was found that both parties stated each had yelled profanity toward each other while picking up their children at the bus stop. Alexis Petrancosta, 22, Justin M. Ruffing, 22 and David S. Shull, 36, all of Hillsboro, were issued citations for disorderly conduct.
