Hillsboro mayor names Kim Abbott as economic development coordinator

Hillsboro Mayor Drew Hastings has announced that Kim Abbott is the coordinator for the city’s economic development efforts.

“Kim will be familiar to area residents,” Hastings said. “As a former agent with Classic Realty, she knows the Highland County area very well.”

Abbott's salary is $27,500 a year and she has signed a six-month contract for $13,750, the city said.

“Kim was born and raised in Adams County. Her career in information technology took her to Cincinnati and Columbus for most of her working life, but she was looking for an opportunity to move to Highland County,” the mayor said.

“I could have lived anywhere I wanted but chose Hillsboro because it is not too large, not too small, but ‘just right,’” Abbott said.

“I’m thrilled to have the opportunity to help people discover Hillsboro and make the city even better.”

“Now is a good time to start Kim in this position,” Hastings said. “The administration has many projects in the works and Kim will be perfect in assisting with these efforts. Our economic development plans are many and varied. Our goal is to create a destination place for people in southern Ohio that will result in job creation.”
