A Hillsboro man was sentenced to prison recently on charges in two separate drug cases.

Kyle Hollon, 31, was indicted by a Highland County grand jury in May 2024 and charged with two counts of aggravated trafficking in methamphetamine in the vicinity of a school zone, both second-degree felonies; and two counts of aggravated possession of methamphetamine, both third-degree felonies.

According to court records, Hollon pleaded guilty June 20 to both trafficking counts, with one lowered to a third-degree felony count of aggravated trafficking in methamphetamine and amended to remove the language that the crime was committed in the vicinity of a school zone. The two possession charges were dismissed.

The charges in the indictment were for alleged incidents that occurred Nov. 16 and Nov. 17, where Hollon is accused of knowingly selling or offering to sell meth in an amount equal to or exceeding bulk amount but less than five times bulk amount. The incident on Nov. 16 allegedly occurred in the vicinity of a school zone.

Highland County Common Pleas Court Judge Rocky Coss sentenced Hollon to a mandatory two-year prison term on the second-degree felony charge, consecutive to 24 months on the third-degree felony charge, for a total of four years in prison. Under the Reagan Tokes Law, Hollon could serve up to five years in this case. He had jail time credit of 44 days and was ordered to pay $210 in restitution to the Highland County Task Force.

In addition, Hollon had previously been sentenced to three years of community control in March 2023, after pleading guilty to a fourth-degree felony charge of aggravated possession of a fentanyl-related compound. Coss revoked Hollon’s community control in that case and sentenced Hollon to an additional six months, consecutive to the 2024 case.

Hollon was admitted into the Correctional Reception Center in Orient on July 8, according to the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction.
