Highland County under winter weather advisory

A winter weather advisory is in effect from 7 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 15 to Wednesday, Jan. 16 at 9 a.m. Wednesday. Affected counties include Adams, Brown, Clermont, Highland, Pike, Ross and Scioto.
The National Weather Service in Wilmington has issued a winter weather advisory for sleet and freezing rain, which is in effect from 7 p.m. this evening to 9 a.m. Wednesday.
Mixed precipitation is expected overnight.
A low pressure system will move northeast across the Appalachians, with moisture reaching into the Ohio Valley. Conditions are favorable for a mix of wintry precipitation, with accumulations of snow, sleet and freezing rain.

The primary hazards will be sleet and freezing rain.
Sleet accumulations will be light, with ice accumulations of around a tenth of an inch.
Rain and freezing rain will begin by early evening Tuesday, with primarily freezing rain expected overnight. Some sleet may mix in during the overnight hours and into Wednesday morning.
Precipitation will end by late morning Wednesday.
Travel difficulties are expected due to icy conditions.
