High water forces lane restrictions on Routes 62, 50 and 124; one school delay

U.S. 62 in Highland County has been reduced to one lane near the northern corporation of Hillsboro due to high water.

According to the Ohio Department of Transportation District 9 office, the route remains open at this time, and traffic will be maintained in one lane by crews from the city of Hillsboro.

High water is also present on U.S. 50 west, near Russell Road at Fairview. Currently, the route remains open to two lanes of traffic; however, it is being monitored by ODOT crews for possible closure.

The flooding also prompted Lynchburg-Clay Local Schools to announce a two-hour delay Wednesday.

Motorists are reminded to exercise additional caution when traveling over roads where high or standing water may be present, and they are reminded that crossing any route which has been closed is strictly prohibited.

Route 124 has been closed at Idaho in Pike County due to flooding.

Motorists will need to seek alternate routes, and they are reminded that crossing any route which has been closed is strictly prohibited.

Highland County Sheriff Ron Ward said that other than the water over the roadways, the office did not receive reports of major incidences related to the storm.
