Greenfield police arrest Fayette County man
On Wednesday, Dec. 18 at 11:30 a.m. an alert neighbor notified the Greenfield Police Department of a suspicious male looking around a residence in the 500 block of McClain Avenue.
According to a news release from Greenfield Police Chief Tim Hester, the occupant of the home was reportedly at work.
Officers responded and found that the back door glass had been broken and the male suspect was inside the residence. Officers entered the residence and confronted the male, who then jumped out of a side window and fled.
A foot chase ensued through yards and the suspect was again confronted in the 400 blk. of Spring St. The suspect refused to surrender and was taken into custody after an officer stunned him with a taser.
The suspect was identified as Roy D. Perkins, 37, of Washington C.H.
He has been charged with burglary (F2) and is currently in the Greenfield jail.
Officers returned to the residence and later met with the occupant, who advised that money had been taken and Christmas presents had been opened. The stolen money was recovered near the scene of the arrest.
Perkins bond has been set at $150,000 and he will appear in Highland County Court, Greenfield, on Friday morning for arraignment.
