Greenfield man sentenced to over 4 years in prison
A Greenfield man has been sentenced to over four years in prison after pleading guilty to two third-degree felony charges.
Matthew S. Jackson, 35, was indicted by a Highland County grand jury in December on charges of having weapons while under disability and grand theft of a firearm, both third-degree felonies.
According to court records, Jackson pleaded guilty to both charges Jan. 16.
The indictment alleged that in October 2023, Jackson “did knowingly obtain or exert control” over a 12-gauge shotgun without its owner’s consent. According to the indictment, Jackson was not “released from disability” due to prior drug possession convictions.
Highland County Common Pleas Court Judge Rocky Coss sentenced Jackson to 24 months in prison on each count, to run consecutively, for a total of four years in prison. Jackson had 76 days of jail time credit.
That four-year sentence is also to run consecutively to a sentence in a separate Highland County Common Pleas Court case from 2023. In September, Jackson was sentenced to three years of community control after pleading guilty to a fifth-degree felony charge of aggravated possession of a fentanyl-related compound. On Jan. 17, Coss revoked community control and sentenced Jackson to eight months in prison, according to court records.
