A Greenfield man already serving prison time was sentenced recently to at least five more years in prison after pleading guilty to drug possession charges in Fayette County Common Pleas Court.

As previously reported, Dylan Tate Campbell, 33, pleaded guilty July 1 to a second-degree felony count of aggravated trafficking in methamphetamine in Highland County Common Pleas Court and was sentenced to a mandatory three years in prison. Under the Reagan Tokes Law, Campbell could serve up to four and a half years for that offense.

Campbell pleaded guilty Sept. 8 in Fayette County to one count each of aggravated possession of drugs, a second-degree felony; possession of cocaine, a fourth-degree felony; and possession of a fentanyl-related compound, a fifth-degree felony, according to court records.

All three charges stemmed from an alleged incident June 12. For the second-degree felony drug possession charge, it was alleged Campbell “knowingly, obtained, possessed or used” meth “in an amount that equals or exceeds five times the bulk amount but is less than 50 times the bulk amount.”

During a Sept. 21 hearing, Fayette County Common Pleas Court Judge David Bender sentenced Campbell to a mandatory three years on the drug possession charge, plus 12 months each on the cocaine and fentanyl-related compound possession charges, for a total minimum of five years in prison. Under the Reagan Tokes Law, Campbell could serve up to six and a half years in the Fayette County case.

“[The] Fayette County sentence [will] run  consecutive to his time out of Highland County,” according to a press release from the Fayette County Prosecutor’s Office. “Thus, Campbell will be incarcerated for a total of eight to 11 years for his offenses against the two counties, with six of the years being mandatory time.”

Campbell is currently incarcerated in the Chillicothe Correctional Institution, according to the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction.
