On Dec. 27 at 11:16 a.m., a Greenfield Police K-9 unit on patrol spotted a wanted subject as a passenger in a vehicle traveling on Jefferson St. near Tenth St.

A traffic stop was made on the vehicle, and Steven M. Willett, 45, of Greenfield, was arrested on an outstanding warrant charging him with trafficking in heroin. While being taken into custody, Willett was searched and found to have a large amount of cash and a baggie containing suspected heroin capsules in his pocket.

Willett was taken to the Greenfield city jail without bond and will later be transferred to the Highland County Justice Center. He will be arraigned on the trafficking charges at a later date in Highland County Common Pleas Court, and additional charges are likely after the capsules are analyzed by the crime lab and the case is reviewed by the Highland County Prosecutor.

Willett is currently also wanted in Greene County for a charge of possession of drugs.
