Greene Countrie Towne Festival hosts annual parade

In spite of occasionally threatening weather, thousands of people visited the 2014 Greene Countrie Towne Festival in downtown Greenfield this weekend.

Sponsored by the Greenfield Rotary Club, the annual summer festival is held the third weekend in July.

Proceeds from festival events help local organizations to operate for the betterment of the community.

Following numerous weekend events, activities and good food, the festival parade was held Sunday afternoon, July 20.

Leading the parade were members of the Greenfield Police Department, including GPD Chief Tim Hester.

Greenfield City Manager Ron Coffey and his wife, Diane, were introduced as the 2014 grand marshals by parade emcee and Rotarian Pat Hays of WVNU.

Following in the parade were a multitude of floats, antique tractors, a 1937 firetruck from the Leesburg Fire Department, the McClain Tigers Marching Band, various parade royalty, emergency response vehicles from the Paint Creek Joint EMS and Fire District and other area departments, and the two candidates for Highland County commissioner, Randy Mustard and Jeff Duncan.
