Ohio Governor Mike DeWine Tuesday announced the appointment of Gerald Anderson II to the Muskingum County Court of Common Pleas, General Division.

Anderson, of Zanesville, will assume office Oct. 21 and will be taking the seat formerly held by Judge Mark Fleegle, who retired. He will serve the remainder of the unfinished term and will need to run for election in November 2026 to retain the seat.

After passing the bar exam in 2014, Anderson was briefly in private practice until joining the Muskingum County Prosecutor's Office in 2015, where he has served as an assistant prosecutor to the present day.

In 2008, Anderson received an associate's degree in political science from Golden West College. He earned his bachelor's degree in political science from Brigham Young University in 2011 and his juris doctorate from Pepperdine University School of Law in 2014.
