Fair Week continues with more judging, exhibits, food and fun

The 2012 Highland County Fair continued Tuesday with a big improvement in the weather.
After the steady Labor Day rains, Tuesday's overcast skies were welcomed by fair-goers.
"It's Fair Week, a little rain doesn't hurt anything," said Highland County Fair Board member Jeff McCoy. "We've had a good turnout so far. We had a great rodeo Sunday evening. The kids are having a good time. They've all worked hard to be here."
Several 4-H club members were lined up for project judging again Tuesday. The horse versatility show was also scheduled for later Tuesday, along with the beef showmanship event. Tuesday night's demolition derby begins at 7:30 p.m.
The Fair continues through Saturday, Sept. 8.
Upcoming Musical Entertainment
• Sept. 5 – David Wayne. Wayne, of southeastern Ohio, plays traditional country music. If you enjoy traditional country music, you won't want to miss David Wayne on Sept. 5 at the Highland County Fair. The show starts at 8 p.m.
• Sept. 6 – The Browns, a popular gospel music group from LeMars, Iowa, will perform Sept. 6 at the Highland County Fair. The Browns have been touring across the United States since the group began its full-time ministry ten years ago. The heralded group began on the local and state level and has expanded and grown into a national touring group. This year The Browns received the prestigious honor of Top 10 Mixed Group of the Year for the second year in a row.
• Sept. 6 – Wilburn & Wilburn. On Thursday, Sept. 6, the popular father-son duo of Wilburn & Wilburn bring their special brand of gospel music to the Highland County Fair. Father Jonathan and son Jordan combine a solid foundation of "old school" gospel with a flair of youthful presence to bring the message of Christ in a song. Wilburn & Wilburn perform at 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 6.
• Sept. 7 – Mike Albert's "Ultimate Tribute" show has become known worldwide for the respectful portrayal of the late Elvis Presley. The show had its beginnings with Mike using sing-a-long tapes of Elvis' hits. Mike won several major world "Elvis" contests, and demand for his shows resulted in putting together a seven piece Big "E" Band, to emulate the sound Elvis' band had in the Vegas shows and on tour.
• Sept. 8 – Chuck Wait & Driveline. Get ready to enjoy some good old Bluegrass music with longtime local businessman Chuck Wait and Driveline on Saturday, Sept. 8 at 7:30 p.m.
