The Highland County Republicans will hold their annual Lincoln Day Dinner Thursday, Feb. 20 at the Hillsboro Bible Baptist Church, beginning at 6 p.m. This event will celebrate the 205th anniversary of the birth of Abraham Lincoln, the first Republican president.

David Yost, Auditor of State, will be the featured speaker. Yost graduated from The Ohio State University and became an award-winning journalist with the Columbus Citizen-Journal. He went on to serve in the administrations of Columbus Mayor Buck Rinehart and Governor George Voinovich, all while earning his law degree from Capital University.

While operating a successful law practice, Yost was appointed Delaware County Auditor and became a four-time winner of the state auditor's "Making Tax Dollars Count" award.

In 2003, Yost became Delaware County's prosecutor, where he won the county's first-ever capital murder case and successfully prosecuted the largest drug ring to ever operate in Delaware County. Three times, his peers appointed him special prosecutor, and he earned the reputation for cleaning up public corruption.

Elected state auditor in 2010, Yost championed a new state law to "skinny-down" Ohio's governments from the statehouse to the schoolhouse. As the champion of "performance audits," he even contracted with an outside auditing firm to conduct the first-ever performance audit for the state auditor's office.

Tickets for the dinner are $20 and may be purchased from any Republican Committee member or by calling Dick Donley at (937) 402-1865 or Peggy Hite at (937) 364-2588.
